Failure to Launch

Husband and I went to the Hudson Balloon Festival to see the 6:00 pm launch,
unfortunately it was too windy and they never went up.
This group made an attempt but had to deflate it instead.

I love tax free weekends in Massachusetts

I finally did it...I bought the Sigma 10mm f/2.8 fisheye today (tax free)...and am already lovin it.

This is the Old Danvers State Hospital Main building that has now been converted to apartments.  this is a perfect building for my first fisheye photo.  The sky was a perfect blue, but because the photo is funky anyway I decided to play around with shadows and highlights and saturation just a bit. 1960 Chevy Bel Air

This post is for you, Dad !!

This is the 4th Generation of the Chevy Bel Air.
Growing up my family had one of these but it was an aqua color.
I think this was my favorite of all the cars we had growing up.

Annual Edsel Owner Convention, Salem Massachusetts

The Edsel, named after the son of company founder Henry Ford, is considered one of the biggest flops in the annals of the American car industry.

Ford made about 100,000 Edsels between 1958-60. Not many sold.

The car, most felt, was cursed with the double whammy of being ugly and expensive. A new Edsel cost between $2,300 and $4,600, which was a lot of money at a time when the country was plunged in a recession.

The almost universal disapproval the car once engendered has been replaced by the passionate devotion of club members who believe the Edsel is a misunderstood classic.

The Crash and The Recovery

Wednesday, August 4 was the 2nd Gran Prix Cycle Road Race in Beverly MA.
During the Elite Men State Championship Race there was a major crash coming around a very sharp corner. The man on the ground actually got his jersey tangled up on someones tire.  Some of the riders in this pile up
actually got back on their bikes and continued the race.

In this photo you can see the second cyclist from the left in the green and argyle sox, was one of the guys in the crash above who got back on his bike to finish the race...You can see the rip in his shorts and the wound.

Me and and some of my Beverly Hospital co-workers volunteered at the Farmer's Market outside the Hospital Saturday morning. Of course I am the "resident" photographer. I bought some veggies from each of the vendors too...just got done eating some yummy corn on the cobb

Daily Shoot: Make a portrait of somebody today. It can be somebody you know or a stranger. Maybe even yourself. (seriously...I took this photo today not even knowing what today's theme was...perfect fit)
